In an industry often favoring major labels and traditional music deal structures, Opposition stands in the corner of the artist, offering the tools and support that allow artists to maintain control of their music and creative journey. As the music division of BBTV, Opposition works with artists to diversify their revenue through a suite of tailored services, including distribution & label services, rights management, e-commerce, mobile apps, brand sponsorships, influencer marketing, and more.  

A strong value offering and friendly artist deals has allowed Opposition to sign and release tracks from TisaKorean, The Rubens, Zaytoven, KEY!, Taska Black, Terror Jr and more in the last two years. We are looking for an A&R who will utilize the resources we provide them and their relationships to sign top tier artists to Opposition. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Acquire new talent for Opposition’s Distribution & Label Services and Publishing Services
• Continuously prospect and look for new and upcoming talent to sign 
• Continuously look for new trends in music and rising/untapped markets to approach for as a new sales target 
• Utilize existing relationships and build new relationships with artists and their teams to pitch Opposition’s services 
• Turn targets into leads and foster those relationships. Work alongside Opposition’s team to properly pitch services to leads 
• Track all targets/leads and ensure the status on each is always up-to-date
• Work alongside Opposition’s team to put forth a proposal when necessary
• Negotiate terms and deal points with all leads 
• Communicate effectively and consistently with Opposition’s team and with all artist leads
• Collect and evaluate feedback from key artist stakeholders and, based on that feedback, provide strategic recommendations to the Head of Music on improvements to Opposition’s values adds for Distribution and Label Services 

Key Requirements 

• +4 years working directly with top talent artists and managers either at a label, agency or management group 
• +4 years of A&R experience
• Experience in signing artists, producers and writers to Publishing deals is not required but very helpful
• Strong industry connections within 2 - 4 of the following genres; hip-hop/R&B, electronic music, pop, singer/songwriter and indie 
• Strong ability to prospect artists, track reach outs, track follow-ups and stay on top of leads 
• Experience signing or marketing multiple albums/song releases that reached multi-million streams
• Vast knowledge of the music streaming industry and marketing releases including influencer marketing 
• Strong knowledge of social media platforms, DSPs, and digital music marketing trends
• Connections within sync licensing and with top DSPs is not required but beneficial
• Ability to take the initiative and drive excellent results 
• Must be able to work independently and communicate effectively
