DIRECTOR OF PUBLICITY

Mute seeks a full-time Director of Publicity for its North American office based in New York, NY, currently working in the office one day a week, with potentially more days a week in 2023. 

The Director of Publicity will report directly to the VP of Marketing. The position is responsible for planning and executing press campaigns across the roster. The ideal candidate will be personable and confident, with strong relationships in media.  The position requires excellent organizational and communication skills, strong musical knowledge, a superior handle on the existing music media, and a keen awareness of the ever-changing music marketplace. Essential to the role is a great understanding of music media landscape and how all forms of media play a role in the larger record release ecosystem. The candidate must be a motivated self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to work well with a close-knit international team. 

Responsibilities and Duties: 

-    Assist in creation of narrative for album campaigns, working closely with artists, management, A&R and marketing teams

-    Manage national and regional press campaigns including print, digital, podcasts and television for all Mute artists 

-    Draft and distribute press releases 

-    Work with marketing and management in asset development, including press photos, bios, etc

-    Compile and distribute weekly reports

-    Maintain press database

-    Manage independent publicists hired for occasional projects 

-    Coordinate label-wide ticket buy budgets and guest lists for touring artists 

-    Facilitate in-person press activity for touring artists, including artist meet & greets with VIP contacts 

Qualifications: 

-    Minimum of 3 years music PR experience required

-    Excellent verbal and written communication skills

-    Highly organized and able to multi-task in a fast-paced working environment

-    Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Mailchimp, & Promojukebox

-    Strong knowledge of the label’s history and current artists
