Manager Label Acquisition


EnterGain is the recruiting firm for today's music ecosystem.  Our well-known client provides a range of services to hundreds of independent recorded music labels and other companies in the music ecosystem.

Position Summary

Our client seeks to hire a Manager Label Acquisition, to identify, approach and sign labels to this Company’s unique service offerings.  Ideal candidates have strong connections across music labels, artist owned labels and artist management firms that set up their artists as labels.

The role reports to the General Manager, and could be based in New York City, Los Angeles or Nashville, and could work remotely or in person.  10% to 15% travel to music industry conferences, client visits and team meetings.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Develop a strategy to build a pipeline, prospect for clients, and close new business. 
  • Build a map of the addressable market, and qualify and prioritize prospective client companies.
  • Successfully prospect and win new client relationships with music labels across a diversity of size, vintage, genre and geography. 
  • Demonstrate value to label founders, owners and leaders -both in terms of expertise that you bring, as well as in the services new clients can access from the Company.
  • Utilize in real time the Company’s system of record for CRM and transparent funnel management.
  • Provide reliable sales funnel / pipeline forecasting with probabilities and timelines to GM and the CEO.
  • Become expert in the Company’s offerings, and with the GM’s support, become self-sufficient in presenting, developing terms, and closing and signing on new label clients.
  • Stay ahead of trends in music and music business, and serve as a thought leader at conferences and in the independent music community. 

Skills and Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in analogous roles such as label services, label relations or label acquisition roles in music distribution or in label relations or similar roles at DSPs or other music tech, or from artist management experience that interacted with a wide range of labels.     
  • Demonstrated connections and positive reputation among founders and other decision makers at independent record companies. 
  • Networked with companies across musical genres and geographies in the music industry. 
  • Ability to network to and build new relationships with authenticity. 
  • Persuasive, succinct, transparent communication style, with strong listening and needs assessment skills. 
  • Effective needs assessment, presentation, negotiation and closing skills. 
  • Enterprising, curious, lifelong learner, who enjoys building long term trusted relationships with leaders of music companies.
  • Strong organizational and office technology skills including with Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office and CRM.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish is a plus. 
  • Degree in music business or equivalent experience, with a demonstrated understanding of today’s music ecosystem. 
  • Highest level of work ethic, and integrity. 

Compensation: This is a full-time role with a remote option. The company offers competitive compensation, health, dental and vision benefits, 401(k) with employer match and PTO. Base salary will be commensurate with the final hire’s relevant skills and experience as well as location and is anticipated at an annual rate in the range of $60K to $95K.
