About the Role

Reporting to senior members of Opposition, you’ll work as the Music Rights Team’s senior member leading and taking part in day-to-day rights claiming operations for Opposition & BBTV clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership
- Positively influence, mentor, and motivate team members. Measure and proactively support performance, including providing constructive feedback for development
- Support the Music Partnerships Manager (or other party that may be designated) with:
- Workflow prioritization and task assignment
- Measuring and reporting on individual and team performance
- Share, encourage, and lead implementation of new ideas and best practices for continuous improvement
- Represent the team as the point-of-contact on cross-department initiatives and projects
- Support open and clear communication between the team and management
- Identify, implement, and deliver training for improvement of team performance
- Other reasonable duties as assigned from time to time
- Liaise with YouTube’s partner team on open issues/tasks and provide constant feedback on areas for improvement
- Work with the Music Partnerships Manager (or other party that may be designated) to ensure Tier A is maintained across all Pillars & related CO’s and in times when Tier status fluctuates, take action to make corrections where needed
Rights Operations
- Review online content for intellectual property belonging to BBTV’s music partners to ensure adherence to claiming guidelines and policies
- Apply the correct claiming policies to applicable content, including reviewing and responding to requests for claiming
- Track and report on claimed impressions to key stakeholders
- Manage the administration of Music Content ID including, but not limited to, ownership conflicts, sales analyses and other projects outside of claiming/processing tracks
- Maintain partner content, assets, metadata, and BBTV’s records, etc. Analyze channels and ensure proper metadata and that tracks are free of copyright infringement
- Manage Rights Portal and relationship with AdRev, including troubleshooting and acting as point of contact for AdRev
- Manage Distribution & Label release catalog to ensure that sound recording and publishing splits are updated across all internal and external outlets necessary.
- Ensure tracks have the properly assigned sales rep for commission purposes. Work with R&D to fix any errors
- Coordinate with 3rd party distribution platforms to establish proper title stylization release date changes, and any last-minute requests that may occur
- Other reasonable duties as assigned from time to time
Key Requirements:
- 1-2 years of experience managing music assets within YouTube Content ID or other music rights portfolios
- In-depth understanding of musical composition and of the elements that make up a full recorded song or music video
- In-depth understanding of copyrights and how they relate to music and digital video
- Team-player with the ability to positively influence, motivate and mentor others
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to speak to different levels
- Self-motivated and results-driven problem-solver with a drive for continuous improvement and development
- Adept knowledge of MS Office Suite or equivalent and Google Apps
- Strong passion for music, technology, and digital media
- Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment
- Post-secondary education in music is considered an asset
- Experience in a management/leadership position is an asset
