Partisan Records - Social Media Manager [NYC-based]

Partisan Records, an independent music company headquartered in Brooklyn with offices in London, LA, and Berlin, seeks an experienced Social Media Manager to join its team. The position will be full-time capacity, reporting to the Director of Audience Development.


The Social Media Manager is our in-house expert on building digital audiences on social media. They work closely with our artists to understand their individual approaches to socials and build plans to meet their goals. They bring tasteful, well-curated ideas as well as education and support for artists throughout campaigns. They work closely with the entire label marketing team, making sure that social needs across label departments are executed. They have a strong grasp on how social media fits within the greater record campaign, especially with streaming.  In addition to working closely with artist teams, they also manage the label's digital properties and some artist accounts. They offer a critical perspective on the Partisan brand, and are responsible for serving and growing the label’s community.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:


Community Management

 • Growing digital audiences across all social properties

 • Managing Partisan digital platforms & updating the label social calendar weekly

 • Posting daily as the label and interacting with artist posts throughout the day

 • Managing digital platforms for legacy artists: Fela Kuti, Sun’s Signature, etc.

 • Assisting with execution of social posts & newsletters for artists when necessary

 • Managing Partisan & Fela CRM (marketing mailing list & e-mail communications) 

 • Maintaining & growing label and owned artist playlists / curator profiles (Spotify, YouTube, Apple Music)

 • Optimizing marketing tools on hybrid (DSP/social) platforms

 • Adding news stories to the label website & keeping artist pages up to date with each new release

 • Contributing to label branding ideation & leading on assets for socials


Audience Development

 • Leading on artist social strategy & compiling social calendars for campaigns

 • Staying on top of artist execution of social plans and escalating when roadblocks arise

 • Leading on day-to-day communication with artists regarding social activity 

 • Working with artists on digital branding & content ideas 

 • Executing social media audits for active artists ahead of new campaigns

 • Executing social media reports for active artists post-campaigns

 • Compiling social growth and fan engagement highlights weekly for active artists

 • Putting together strategies for bespoke fan engagement campaigns & monitoring/sharing results

 • Researching new tools & platforms, and educating the wider team 

 • Setting up & strategizing around new platforms for the label and artists

 • Setting follower & demographic growth goals for label & owned artist properties, and monitoring/sharing results monthly


Content Creation

 • Cutting basic video clips for artist & label socials and DSPs

 • Updating / creating basic graphics as needed for social posts

 • Exporting GIFs & digital stickers for newsletters & Stories

 • Creating organic shortform video content for label socials

 • Working closely with designers and videographers on more involved assets for artists & label socials


Team Contribution

 • Attending artist shows & assisting with label events

 • Participating in record fairs, music conferences, & networking events 

 • Traveling for shows, festivals & artist facetime

 • Keeping an ear to the ground for new artists

 • Representing the label in whichever locality


Skillset requirements:


 - Minimum 1 year social media management at a music company 

 - A thorough understanding of the ever-evolving digital landscape and current trends regarding the intersection of social media and streaming platforms

 - Experience with TikTok and other shortform video placements 

 - A keen design eye and ability to quality control visual assets

 - Basic content creation skills 

 - Extremely organized with attention to detail

 - Proficient in writing and social-focused copywriting 

 - Proactive business-friendly style in written and verbal communication

 - Strong time management skills; ability to set priorities, multitask and meet deadlines 

 - Interest in Partisan & and affiliate labels’ catalog and familiar with the current artist roster 

 - Passionate about music discovery

 - Team player
