About the Job 

The Product Designer is a key member of the Product Development team that balances the needs of users, the business, and developers.  In this role, you will conceptualize and produce all tech design elements for both new and existing CD Baby and subsidiary brand products. You will support opportunities for improvement of existing products, and help define user experience problems with data in an Agile environment. 

What You’ll Be Doing 

  • Work closely with the Product, Development, and Business teams for CD Baby and sub brands to produce user-friendly designs for web-based products 
  • Provide the UI Development team with clear information regarding how the design elements are intended to function and provide design assets when needed 
  • Contribute new design and UX-driven ideas based on client feedback, market changes, and industry trends 
  • Participate, and sometimes lead, user testing to gather meaningful feedback for designs and help shape iterative product improvement 
  • Track user behavior, collect and organize data for the purpose of measuring product success, and provide detailed analysis quickly to assist Product team in making informed decisions 
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned 

What We Are Looking for In You 

  • 3+ years of UX/UI experience designing web-based products as an individual contributor, preferably with fast-growing tech companies, or commensurate experience 
  • Experience with conceptualization of products in early stage, as well as new versions and enhancements of existing products 
  • Excellent design documentation skills, including flow diagrams, screen schematics, storyboards, wireframes, mock-ups, visual design specs, and assets 
  • Proven experience in designing responsive web applications 
  • Solid understanding of current mobile and desktop trends 
  • Experience recruiting for, conducting, and/or participating in usability testing (and other user research) and collection and analysis of user data (Google Analytics, HotJar, Lookback.io, New Relic, SQL, Excel, Airtable, Glean.ly, etc.) 
  • Detail-oriented, driven, self-motivated and self-starter 
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, problem-solving and issue-resolution skills 
  • Positive attitude and sense of humor 

Preferred 

  • Understanding of and experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript (especially React) is highly preferred 
  • Utilize data-mining abilities to track the performance of new product launches
  • Ability to write simple SQL queries 
  • Experience working in the music industry always a plus 

 

Work Environment 

  • Full-Time
  • Hours are flexible, but generally 9AM – 5PM PT Monday-Friday 
  • Temporarily Remote: Currently fully remote due to COVID-19, but normally some office hours are required; most team members work from home two days a week 
  • Dress code is “music industry casual” 
  • Some travel may be required
